Who are you?

DISCLAIMER: THIS GUIDE IS EXTREMELY THOROUGH AND WILL BRING UP FEELINGS, EMOTIONS, AND EVEN PHYSICAL SENSATIONS. TAKE TIME TO COMPLETE IT AND SEEK A THERAPIST IF YOU CONSIDER IT NECESSARY. IT DOES NOT REPLACE ANY KIND OF PSYCHOLOGICAL AID. MAKE A SPACE TO MEDITATE YOUR ANSWERS AND A SPACE TO REST AFTER.

Self-awareness in this day and age is vital. It is the essence of your individuality. This is important because it is what makes you competitive in work or school, it's what makes you who you are. Adolescence is an important stage because it's when kids start to question their parents, their ways of thinking and start forming their own selves. However, some people never find themselves or lose themselves seeking external validation, social approval or because of other triggers like fear or guilt.

This is the second part of the self-awareness questionnaire, where we'll talk about who you are today. You might find incongruencies in what you thought about you and what you truly are, and this will help your desition-making in the future, increase self-esteem and confidence. Use the first questions of the "where you come from?" questionnaire to help you answer these questions honestly and to find out why your motivations work a certain way:
  •        What are your values?: Trying to find motivation for your actions, a guide for decision-making or code of conduct.
  •       What are your interests?: What are you curious about, what draws your attention?
  •       Personality and temperament: Do you feel energized when you're with people or do you feel better alone? Maybe you're an ambivert (like me), and have a hard time defining. Go and experiment. Do you like spontaneity or do you feel more comfortable with planning? Does your decision-making-process involve more facts or are you guided by emotions? Are you normally focused on end result or do you prefer to focus on process? Are you focused on details or you see a big picture?
  •       Biorhythm: Are you an early bird or a night owl? Do you prefer going to bed early? Or does your energy peak at some other point?
  •       Life mission: Could be really intimidating to ask what your life mission is, but if you think back to what where your most important events in life? Why? What happened to you, how did you feel? You might discover many secret traits about yourself.
  •        Strengths and weaknesses: What are you good at and what aren't you good at?
I'm incredibly scared of defining myself. I find it intimidating and scary. So, I always try to simplify. I answered these questions trying to clarify and I asked three people to do the same. It was amazing how different our answers were. Why? Precisely because I'm not being honest and sincere with myself and I keep going against my core, so I present myself completely different to some people, which means no one gets to know me. This has resulted in dissociation and isolation.
